If you remember this post you know that the hubby and I are content with not having any kids right now. In March I had three cousins who were pregnant and now two of them gave birth and they are extremely happy. I talked about their baby showers here. Tomorrow is my cousin wife’s baby shower and for some reason I’m overwhelmed with baby fever. The closer the due date gets here the more excited the whole family gets. My cousins wife will be having a little girl and the excitement is certainly in the air but so is the pressure to have our own children.
Sweets: Strawberry & Cream Cake
Baking, Cakes, Recipes, Strawberries, SweetsLast May I was fortunate enough to have my mama visiting for Mother's Day. I had never made my mama a cake before so I really wanted to impress her. Since she isn't fond of chocolate I opted for a strawberry one instead.
Life: On Growing Up (Pt. 2)
LifeIf you previously read my post you learned that I’m no longer following my childhood dreams. As I’ve grown older I have developed other dreams that have nothing to do with what I thought I previously wanted. Growing up I always thought having a career was far more important than having a family and settling down. The ideas I entertained as a child revolved around being a successful attorney at a large corporation (in their pro bono division), having a fancy house, a few cars, money in the bank, and I would traveling the world. As I’ve grown older I realized that those dreams do not coincide with the type of individual I have become.
I have finally realized I was chasing after a dream for all the wrong reasons. I wanted to be an attorney to help people and I believed that learning law was the only way I could accomplish it. I now realize that I can give more of myself to others by being being true to myself. I’m glad that I figured out that I don’t want to go to law school before I went into debt for it and joined the hundreds of bitter attorneys out in the world. The childhood ideas I entertained are now partially relevant to the goals and dreams that I have but in a smaller scale. I no longer want a fancy house but a simple one with a back yard where I can grow a garden. I’m perfectly content with only having one car and I’m glad that we are fortunate enough to have some money saved up. I haven’t traveled the world yet but we are working towards that.
Now that I’m all grown up I finally know what I want to be and I couldn’t be happier. I want to help people and I will continue to do so for as long as I can. For those that might be curious I am not currently “working” but I do put my time to good use. I’m a full time housewife, an entrepreneur, and a part time volunteer at a couple of worth while causes.
Life: On Growing Up (Pt. 1)
Growing up, Lawyer, Life, LSATWhen I was a little girl I wanted to be an attorney when I grew up. I wanted this more than anything else and against all the odds I was almost close to realizing my childhood dream. I was always proud to tell people that I knew exactly what I wanted to be unlike my peers who didn’t. I mean seriously what 6 year old knows what they want to be when they are older. I did such a great job convincing people that I was going to be an attorney that I lost track of the things that really made me happy and why I wanted to be one in the first place.
Life: Lazy Sundays
Life, MoviesRecently we began to subscribe to Netflix and I’m sad we didn’t decide to do this sooner. We used to get our movie from Redbox or we would watch whatever was on television. We are officially addicted to instant movies and we are not afraid to admit it. We began our subscription with the free 30 day trial but we soon realized that the monthly charge is worth every penny.
One of our favorite categories is romantic comedies. What can we say we are cheesy people that love to laugh. I wanted to share with you some of our favorite romantic comedies. This list is not complete and is not in a particular order but you’ll get the idea of the types of movies we enjoy watching.
Sweets: The Best Pancakes…
Baking, Banana, Cooking, Pancakes, Recipes, Sweets...well at least thus far. Growing up as a child my mom used to make us pancakes on the weekends, the box kind. When I worked at the "Happiest Place on Earth" everyone used to eat pancakes at the restaurant where I worked but I used to get them from the employee diner, the pre-made stuff. Now as an adult I decided that it was time to kick the box and pre-made habit and make them from scratch.
I searched all around the web until I found a recipe that I believed deserved some attention and where I can use up some buttermilk I had.
Sweets: Cake Balls, Bites or Pops?
Baking, Cake Balls, Cake Pops, SweetsMy latest obsession has been with Bakerella and the fabulous creations she makes. I began to stalking her blog last year but I hadn't dared to make any of her wonderful looking cake balls or bites or pops until now. Like I previously mentioned here I wanted to make something special for my cousin's baby shower and I decided to give these cake balls a try.

LifeBlogging: Is That Whack
LifeMy friend began her own blog this week and I wanted to share it with you guys. The only way to really describe her blog is awkward, funny, raunchy, and definitely not for the faint of heart. If you are ready to come out of your comfort zone you should stop by at Is That Whack and read for yourself the musings of my friend Miss Wackney Houston.
If you’ve ever wondering if something you or someone you know does is whack please head over and summit a question. Don’t worry you don’t have to tell her your real name.
Update: She has now started a new blog meanBUTfunny where she honestly herself. If you get a chance you should check it out because its really entertaining.
