Recap: Where’s the Cake?

Photographers, Wedding

Remember these? As I mentioned here the hubby and I met at Disneyland and since I worked there for almost 10 years I decided that we needed something to represent that part of our lives. I didn’t want things to be too Disney like so I went with something simple and plain.

Once we had a topper we had to decide what we were going to put it on. Since we had our reception at the Cheesecake Factory it was only fitting that we have cheesecake for our dessert instead of cake. We opted to have 1 Godiva Cheesecake, 3 Fresh Tiramisu Cheesecakes, 3 Fresh Banana Cream Cheesecake, and 35 individual size Fresh Strawberry Cheesecakes. I’m telling you I was completely in heaven with all the cheesecake too bad that I wasn’t hungry to enjoy them all.

Thanks to my MOH I was able to actually go to Disneyland and purchase a porcelain piece.

So what do you think of my cake topper? Did you have wedding cake or something different?

Recap: Italian + Family = Our Rehearsal Dinner

Reviews, Wedding

Review #4: Buca di Beppo

Since I’m doing recaps and vendor reviews for our wedding I figure I should go back and talk about our rehearsal dinner. When we were first deciding on where to have my family suggested a BBQ. My mom and aunt had agreed to put it all together and planned on doing it the night before our wedding. The menu was set and everyone was invited. About a week before the wedding we decided to change our plans since we didn’t really want to bother my family. As I was looking for a restaurant that could accommodate 25 individuals I recalled that for my cousin’s first communion we had a banquet at Buca di Beppo. I loved that all I had to do was e-mail my reservation with the amount of guest and the next morning they called to confirm. They were really friendly and when I asked if I could pre-set the menu they gave me suggestions for the amount of guest that we were having.

If you haven’t been to Buca di Beppo then let me do a quick overview of it:
1) The atmosphere is fun
2) It’s an Italian restaurant
3) The walls are covered with different things from photographs to old advertisement (Every time we go I see something different.)
4) Everything is served family style (Sharing is Caring!)
5) The food is great especially when you have amazing friends and family to share it with

With all these things in mind we just had to do it. We all had a blast and it was a way to re-energize ourselves before the big day. The best part was that my family didn’t have to worry about throwing a huge party and the clean up afterward. Since everything was served family style it wasn’t too expensive for a party of 25. Oh and as a sweet touch the restaurant gave us a picture frame and card congratulating us.

I would recommend Bucca di Beppo for a rehearsal dinner. If you do plan on going though I would suggest that you ask for the Pope Table.

Thanks Mom and Dad for paying for the lovely dinner.

Where did you have your rehearsal dinner? Where you able to relax and enjoy it?

Wow…what can I say about this award?

Uncategorized

I would like to first begin by saying thanks to my wonderful glue gun for sticking it out with me throughout the wedding planning process, then I would like to thank the wonderful 40% coupons for Michael’s for allowing me to spend countless hours browsing through the aisles without filling guilt of a purchase, then I would like to thank my followers for being so great as they followed me through my crazy journey, lastly I would like to thank Miss Mojito for giving me such an amazing award.

I guess the rules are that I have say 7 random things about me and nominate 7 more blogs.

Random things about me:

1. I worked a little bit more than 9 years at the “Happiest Place on Earth” and my greatest memories are from when I was part of the Dream Squad.

2. I love strawberries. When I was about 4 years old my mom bought me some seeds and helped me plant them. I was so impatient to have some strawberries that I pulled them out when they were still green. Oops.

3. I love to bake. I actually give people baked goods for their birthdays because I think it’s more personal than just a simple gift. If you have any good recipes please send them my way. : )

4. The day my grandmother passed away a part of me did as well.

5. I LOVE flowers but I’m allergic to them. Speaking of allergies I’m pretty much allergic to everything that grows, animals, cockroaches, pineapple, kiwi, and nature. etc.

6. I LOVE to take photographs. When people pass away all you are left with are your memories and the photographs you have.

7. I had a wonderful childhood.

Blogs that are worthy of the award are many but here are the one’s I’m choosing:

1.The Roddy Bride

2.I Do at the Zoo

3.August 15 Bride

4.Wedding Planning with Joy

5.Designed by RJ

6.San Diego Budget Bride

7.Sweet Lorraine

Thanks ladies for all the inspiration!

Sitting, Wishing, and More Importantly Patiently Waiting…

Wedding
I can’t believe a month has passed by since the wedding and I still haven’t updated you guys about all the details that went on that day. I know I shouldn’t make excuses but I really want to show you guys through photos how the day unfolded. We are currently waiting for our photographs to be finalized and once that happens I will gladly share them with the online world.

How long before you received your photos? Are you as excited about the photos as I am?

Dressing the Bride…

Dress, Wedding

These are just a few of the dresses I tried on before I bought the perfect one. I went in with an open mind about the different styles and colors of the dress. I hadn’t blogged about the dress because I was so paranoid that my hubby would see my dress or say something like why didn’t you pick that one instead. Now that the wedding is over I’m finally comfortable putting up the pictures.

Dress #1: I thought this dress was pretty but I just couldn’t see myself with an orange and white dress. Just picture a half and half bar.

Dress #2: This dress was all wrong. I didn’t want sleeves, the “girls” are getting too much attention, and the material itself looked cheap.

Dress #3: This one was very lacy and romantic but it just didn’t feel like me.

Dress #4: This dress was the attempt the salesperson made at dressing me up. It was okay but still not me. You can see how my smiling is coming around. I felt like a cupcake in it.

Dress #5: Another attempt at a different type of dress. This is still not me since I really don’t like the bodice. The buttons in the back where actually a zipper which was cool but seriously not my style.

Dress #6: I was really close to getting this dress because I loved the fabric and it made me feel pretty. Can you tell with the cheesy smile I have that I love it? It made the top two choice but I knew which dress I was getting before I even stepped foot in the store.

Stay tune to see the dress that took my breath away. How many dresses did you try on before you found the “one”? Where you set on a specific style or were you open minded like I was?

Recap: The Dress Review…

Reviews, Vendors, Wedding

Review #3: Alfred Angelo Bridal

I love my dress but the company’s customer service department needs a makeover. Their so called “sales” are on going and if you wait a day from when you receive a “coupon” you will probably get a better deal. I would give them a better review if I would have been treated better but I wasn’t. When I attempted to contact their customer service department they gave me the run around even after e-mailing them twice. I regret buying my bridesmaids dresses there since they didn’t take my girls measurements right and their dresses didn’t fit them. How was it possible that all 5 of them needed to get their dresses altered. Thank goodness my dress didn’t need any alterations but 5 bustles which I also regret getting them done there since they over charge. If you do get your dress there you should take it somewhere else to get altered and steamed. They charged me an arm and a leg to get it steamed and pressed. If I could have done things over I would have gotten my dress somewhere else. I don’t mind paying for quality service but there prices are ridiculous when you take into account their attitude and what you have to pay for alterations and other things.

I truly believe (from my experience) that Alfred Angelo is a company that threats you right up to the point were they have your money and after that you’re on your own.

The only thing good that came out of my whole experience there was my dress. My hubby loved it and so did everyone else. I can’t look at it without thinking about how I was treated by their customer service department.
